Best Halloween Attractions in New Jersey: Corner of Chaos, Nightmare at Gravity Hill, and Field of Terror...

Who doesn't love a good scare around the Halloween holiday? Kids and adults alike are always looking for fun but hair-raising attractions to get their screams out at. There are two attractions in New Jersey that are awesome... Corner of Chaos, and Field of Terror. We miss them when they're over and look forward to Halloween mostly because of them. From set designs, actors, entertainment, and food, and they both live up to our very high expectations years after year...

  Corner of Chaos... (cornerofchaos.com)

Corner of Chaos is a blast. Cornfields and Forests and Haunted Barns, oh my! Start off with the Wicked Wagon Hayride. It's a nice, slow start but lots of fun. Move on to the Trail of Treachery, which was a little scarier than the Hayride. It's really cool to walk through the corn fields and there are surprises around every corner. After these two, the thrills never stop. The Barbaric Barn, winner of the "Frighttour Frighty Winner Maze of the Year" two years ago, is awesome. However, our favorite of all is the Wooded Wasteland. As scary as you would want it to be, and not for wimps, this is so exciting, and everything has everything you would desire on a haunted trail.

The larger your group, the larger the fun. Here are details:

Do you know the legend?  Nearly 300 years ago, a despicable and angry man lived on the Corner Farm.  Any man, woman, or child thoughtless enough to cut through the farm at night disappeared.   The old farm man, suspected of the crimes by the townsfolk, was dragged from his home, lashed to a post at the crossroads, and burned alive.  As the fire licked at his flesh, the man’s last words were a curse and a promise to all those who sought revenge! Some say you can now see a lone scarecrow on the Harvest Moon at the crossroads.

Barbaric Barnyard...
The last time anyone lived in the Corner’s farmhouse was over forty years ago.  And after what happened that horrible night to the Butcher Family, few are foolish enough to step foot on the cursed land or to peer into the abandoned barn.  Three loyal brothers, their controlling father, the love of a head-strong girl and a pact with the Straw Man are the perfect recipe for mayhem and murder!  Will you survive the wrath of the Butcher Brothers and their Barbaric Barnyard?  Are you the next unsuspecting victim?
Nightmare Machine...This corn maze is a real treat during the day.  But at night, beware of its tricks! Stay on the right path or you’ll find yourself face-to-face with some of the Corner’s more infamous residents!   Werewolves, vampires, creepy children, and monsters too horrible to speak of roam this land, each of them paying their toll to the Straw Man for all eternity.  Careful they don’t catch you wandering lost, or you can count on becoming part of the attraction… permanently.
The Wooded Wasteland...
In 1928, the locals buried a terrible secret deep in the woods.  Now, that secret has clawed its way back up to our world!   When a thriving mine on the Corner Farm land had a sudden leak of an unknown gas, many of the miners were killed while others were horribly sick or driven insane!  Frightened for their own lives, the town secretly boarded up the mines- with the workers still inside!  But some of the old miners survived the initial sickness and now their offspring are in the woods, hideously deformed and with an inhuman hunger!  With the miner’s children loose, so too are the deadly fumes and toxins…  and they’ve begun to affect the rest of the woods and anyone who enters!

Wicked Wagon Ride. This is a wagon ride like no other! Madame Cyrene was a gypsy who tried to resurrect the seven most deadly spirits but the tables turned on her and they possessed her instead. They roam around the land hoping to corrupt weak men's hearts and seemed to have settled at the Corner of Chaos. Hopefully you will survive this ride of terror.

And, as an added bonus and more fun for the entire family, there's even more.

The Sideshow Inferno: Before you visit their fatal attractions, join them on the Key for live music, games, food, nightly bonfires, and The Chaotic Carnival!  These sideshow freaks recently escaped from their tour of the Belle Jardin Asylum for the Criminally Insane and they’re just dying to show you their latest death-defining stunts. Fire-breathers, evil clowns, jugglers, and more will delight, mesmerize, and terrify!

 You can't miss this one!!!

Nightmare at Gravity Hill... (gravityhillnj@aol.com)

This attraction was amazing as well, and it will provide you with sheer terror up very close and very personal. Honestly, it's right up there with Universal Studios' Horror Nights, which is one of the best in the country. And it lasts a whole lot longer than each of their haunted houses as well. This walk-through attraction through haunted fields was created by an architect and is so realistic and impressive... it's one of our favorites... mind-blowing! To begin with, there are lots of chilling stories regarding Gravity Hill and reasons why when parked there your car is pulled uphill against the forces of gravity.
Once you go inside the Nightmare at Gravity Hill, there will be many more powers to further the curse. With an extensive cast of terrifying zombies, ghouls, and creepy clowns around every corner, you will be haunted for days after your visit. As you walk around the ghost town graveyard, a fabulous Egyptian pyramid, a butcher shop, church, and many more settings on five acres, there will be creatures everywhere. And there's nowhere to hide! Sound effects complete the 'tour' by adding to the realism. It's honestly so much fun and a must do Halloween attraction. (Not for the faint of heart.)
Props to all of the actors... they do an awesome job!

Field of Terror... (fieldofterror.com)

This is wonderful and very different from "Corner of Chaos" and "Nightmare at Gravity Hill" so we highly recommend going to all places. Why not?!

There are plenty of weekends to fill up in October, and there's not a more appropriate way to spend them. At Field of Terror, there are excellent attractions: a 6-acre walk through a haunted corn field, the Field of Terror Killer Kornfield; the Unknown Haunted Barn; the Zombie Attack Haunted Hayride; and Dementia 3D. All are great and here are more details:

The Zombie Attack Haunted Hayride...

This is a haunted hayride into the dark unknown. Being with a large group on this hayride is so enjoyable. The ride is very long and there are lots of scary and surprising moments. Some are obvious and others aren't. The sets are nice and there's a cool "vortex tunnel," towards the end, a spinning tunnel.

Killer Kornfield..

.This 6-acre walk through a haunted corn field will delight, scare, and impress you around every turn. This is not really a maze, it's more of a walk, but a fun one. They did an excellent job setting this up and you really get your money's worth because it goes on and on and on (in a fantastic way). There are a few truly amazing surprises and frights that I won't mention because they're awesome, so you'll have to go and see them for yourself. It's one of the longest attractions you'll see of this sort, with a diversity of scares over a long period. The atmosphere is wonderful and feels very remote. You'll feel like you've been isolated in the middle of nowhere. You'll be shoved in confined spaces and "harrassed." And at the end you'll go through a claustrophobic tunnel where you'll need to escape. Loved it.

The Unknown Haunted Barn...

They will prey upon your fears one sense at a time. This is their best attraction and a great way to end the night. All of the elements create a superb haunted attraction...light, sound, atmosphere, timing, along with a booming, heavy metal soundtrack that adds to the overall feel. You'll have to crawl your way through at one point and there are lots of false exits with choices to make. The actors will obviously torment you, and you'll love every minute of their attention as strobe lights create an eerie illusion of being alone in an endless back-to-back tunnel.

Dementia 3D...

This 3D walk of terror will reach out and GRAB YOU! It's another "Frighttour Frighty Winner"!

It just doesn't get better than this for a great Halloween treat. Walk though the haunted house while wearing a pair of 3D glasses and encounter frights as you never have before. This attraction is enjoyable and unique, and the younger kids will love it!
If all of that wasn't enough, there is also a lot more entertainment when you're finished (or they're finished with you) with their attractions. There's a Bonfire and DJ rockin the house nightly and lots of great refreshments to choose from. Don't miss out on their fried oreos. They're to die for, along with everything else, including you! It's a great spot to gather after each attraction to have a quick snack and get the troops back together to reenergize and get ready for the next amusing scare. Another great night out!

One last event you won't want to miss: Zombie Mud Run, hosted by Field of Terror.

Zombie Mud Run at Field of Terror... (thezombiemudrun.com)

Zombie Mud Run is as fun as it gets. It's a 5K obstacle mud run (extremely popular nowadays). But this one is even better because you're navigating the run with zombies, making it more exciting than ever! You don't have to be an avid runner to join in on the fun, but we promise that you will have a heart pounding, adrenaline racing day. You can sign up as a participant, as a zombie who wreaks havoc on the humans trying to get to the Green Zone (how cool is that), a participant dressed as a zombie, or just go as a spectator. If you survive and make it to the end, which we hope that you do, you will be rewarded with music, food, drinks, beer (for those 21 and over), medical supplies (if needed) and more fun. There's not a better reason to get out of the house, get some exercise, and have a heck of a day out.
