Blue Mountain: Best Local Skiing and Snowboarding in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania... By A Landslide...

We love Blue Mountain Ski Resort. We have been on mountains all around the country and have to say that this lovely winter destination is as good as it gets in this area. It's an awesome winter (or summer) haven nestled in Little Gap Valley alongside the Pocono Mountains. (We'll just focus on winter right now.) Blue Mountain Ski Resort is our favorite ski/snowboarding resort. With the highest vertical at 1,082 feet, you will find a great variety of excellent terrain for all skill levels with approximately 39 trails! You can carve up the slopes, shred on terrain parks or tube with your family. Packed snow means packed fun.

Blue Mountain's well maintained slopes have the longest trails you'll find anywhere in the area and they're so much fun because they go on for a while. If you're used to skiing out west or in the Rockies, many local ski resorts will be disappointing because their runs last for a minute or so and you're done. Not at Blue Mountain... the trails take a while so you can really enjoy the scenery and have a chance to be in the moment. Their perfectly manicured snow, challenging trails (Challenge and Razor's Edge give New England a run for their money), and even their lift systems are excellent.

Other important things to know: You can get a passport card that you keep and reload online for lift tickets, making it a simple task. As you approach the lifts, the automated gates open, very cool. You can also add food money to your passport so that you don't need to carry money along. As far as weather conditions, before you leave you need to go online and check out their mountain cams! They're a great tool for helping you check out the daily conditions. No wasted trips here!!! And, of course, Private or semi-private lessons are hassle-free, and there's a great variety to choose from, depending on your needs and desires. By the end of the day you'll be enjoy many of their fun trails.

If you have any problems, which we are 99.9% sure you won't, their staff is ready, willing, and able to help you out, with smiles on their faces. Their goal is to ensure that you have a great time.

Tubing is also fantastic and fun. There are different runs and the pricing is excellent. It's extremely safe and very organized. Tubing at Blue Mountain makes for a great family day outing. It's a blast for the entire family, young and old.

Sitting at the newly updated and expanded Summit Lodge, which is comfortable, lovely and the cleanest we've seen, you will find peaceful, spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Actually, all of Blue Mountain is attractive, well decorated, and sparkling clean (including the rest rooms) and you just get a great feeling being there. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy while you're relaxing and taking a load off of your feet. The food is better than any lodge we've eaten at.
