In 1981, while talking with his brother Richard about bicycles, Garry Snook had an "Aha!" moment. After doing some research on the bicycle industry, he did what any practical PhD candidate in Finance, with a wife and a second child on the way does: He and his wife, Sharon, started a bicycle catalog company, because they saw an opportunity to serve customers better. Garry and Sharon leveraged their life savings to start the company, and Sharon came up with the name. They called their young startup Performance Bicycle and focused on a simple mission: great products at great prices.
More than 30 years later, they're still delivering great products at great prices and much more. Today, they're the No.1 specialty bicycle retailer in the U.S. with a network of more than 100 stores nationwide plus PerformanceBike.com. Their goal is to provide the best customer experience possible to all cyclists, from the recreational rider to the avid enthusiast.
There are things about Performance Bicycle that are just plain extraordinary. It's about the countless details that go into your experience while visiting one of their stores: from a warm welcome to finding the perfect solution; from going on a ride with them to taking one of our clinics. All of it matters because they think the bicycle matters, not only for what it can achieve for an individual, but also for a society. That's how important they think cycling is and why they're passionate about providing the best customer experience possible to all cyclists of all abilities. Enjoy the ride.
